Lexxus

The dancehall DJ Lexxus was born Christopher George Palmer in East Kingston Jamaica and is also known as the Jigga Man and more recently Mr Lex.

The name change from Lexxus to Mr Lex came about because "We were just trying to avoid the controversy with the car company. We never want anytime we reach a certain level then we start having problems with the name. So we just kinda made two names so people just work with Mr Lex".

He was inspired by Shabba Ranks and he's a big fan of Jay Z hence the nickname Jigga Man. Lexxus' persistence paid off and after 8 years of hard work and a little spice of choreographed dance routines he got his break in 1999. His most successful single to date is 'Full Hundred' and that hit the number one spot in 15 countries.

He has released one album entitled 'Mr Lex', which he advised, had sold 63,000 copies the last time he checked. He is now working on his second album. The album will include crossovers and collaborations with some international artists, names of which Lexxus was keeping close to his chest because "we've not come to any formal agreement". Lexxus advised "I don't have a name for it yet so all my fans can email and give me an idea of what it should be named. Email me at lexxus27007@aol.com".

Lexxus is one of the masterminds behind the lyrics of 'Truth A Go Hurt Dem' along with Elephant Man. He's also the co-writer with Ward 21 on 'Divine Reasoning' and he wrote one of Kiprich's tunes amongst many others. He has had a tune released on the soundtrack of the movie 'Statistics' which starred Lawrence Page and he's currently signed to US based VP Records (www.vprecords.com).

Many dancehall artists have been criticized for plagiarizing lyrics and rhythms from Hip Hop. Lexxus' response to this is, "Some words they use in the Hip-Hop they get it from our music too and it actually means the same thing. People can relate. Right now to tell you the truth I'm just looking for a formula to crossover. I've already conquered dancehall I'm not gong to sit around every day doing the same thing".

Lexxus makes a lot of contributions to his community and they look forward to his treat every year that he keeps for the kids and the old people. He sponsors Trenchtown Comprehensive High School and Vineyard Town Football Club as well as getting involved in the church for which is mother is a committee member.

Lexxus feels good about where he's at now but he wants to go further so he's just going to keep on working. If he wouldn't have gone into Djing he thinks he would have still been on stage but as an actor, choreographer or some other field in entertainment.

Lexxus wanted to say "Big respect to all of my fans that have supported me keep on supporting me while I try making good music for you all. Stop the violence and keep it real until I see you all next time or hear from you all next time, I love you".
