Stanpipe

Robert Chin aka ( Stanpipe )

I s an artist destined to international stardom. He acknowledges Bob Marley as his first influence in reggae music, being a personal friend of the late Reggae King.

Several other artists have helped to mold his Reggae image. People like Freddie McGregor, Judy Mowatt, Junior Reid and Natty Remo have either worked with Stanpipe, live in concert, or in the recording studios.

His father, Leroy Chin, founder and owner of the incredible Sons Junior International Sound System in Brooklyn New York, played a vital role in exposing Stanpipe to the Hard Core Dancehall crowd and made him ready to deliver his lyrical style to live audiences. It was his uncle, Cornell Chin, music selector of Sons Junior International who gave Stanpipe the opportunity of chatting on the sound, gradually building up his repertoire of original compositions in and around New York city.

Music became Stanpipes main focus as he proceeded to reinforce his commitment to reggae.
His first single, Tell Him No was recorded at Sons Junior International Recording Studios in New York in 1987 and released that same year.

From here on out the business was open for Stanpipe. Following the success of his first single, he released his rather popular Mirjam accompanied by a music video for the single.

Stanpipe has performed on many shows and always give back to the community. He has made live appearances in several charity concerts around Miami, like the 1995 University of Miami Community AIDS Awareness event in Miami, and most recently, performing at the Malik Yoba, Smart School Charter Middle Holiday Gala 2000 held at the Design Center of the Americas, Dania Beach/ Florida on December 17, 2000.

Stanpipe describes his music as comprised of Love and Reality, according to Stanpipe, I want to unite the world through my music, because only music can bring the people together. Everyone can relate to music, even the murderer listens to music as a way to escape.
Currently, Stanpipe is more visible on the live circuit scene in South Florida, and has completed a new CD, Starting All Over Again along with Endel I, who makes a guest appearance on several tracks.

The CD, recorded in Miami, Jamaica and New York, also features duets with Natty Remo, Ghetto Youth and female vocalist Yvonne Spencer (Miami) who appears on How You Fe Do That.
An artist of profound determination and enthusiasm, Stanpipe has carved a good name for himself in the Reggae World, a natural gift from Jah and Jamaica.
He continues his mission of Love And Reality on his new CD Starting All Over again which will bring his fans around the world much closer home to his style and articulate musical delivery.
A caliber reggae artist, Stanpipe will forever be standing tall in Reggae
